Jaguars vs Raiders odds
NFL Preseason Week 1 Hall of Fame Game between the Las Vegas Raiders vs Jacksonville Jaguars is set to kickoff this Thursday Night, August 4th at 8:00pm et in Canton, Ohio.
The NFL odds have the Raiders as a -2.5 point favorite against the spread with the over/under at 30 total points.
The NFL betting public has 71% of their money behind Las Vegas as the favorite.
It’s very unlikely that you’ll see many starters play in this Hall of Fame game, but you will get to witness the debut of the Raiders new head coach, Josh McDaniels, as well as the Jaguars new head coach, Doug Pederson.
Josh McDaniels served as the head coach of the Broncos for only one season back in 2009 and then he was the infamous Patriots offensive coordinator for the last nine seasons. It’s going to be very interesting to see what he’ll bring to the table to help this already talented Las Vegas offense.
Doug Pederson served as the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs for two seasons and then became the head coach of the Eagles for the last five seasons. He was able to bring Philly a Super Bowl back in 2018 season, so the Jaguars ultimate goal would be that of course, but they have a long way to go after only 15 wins total in the last 4 seasons.
Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview
Now for the Jaguars, you’ll see third string quarterback Jake Luton will get most of the offensive snaps since both the starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence and second-stringer CJ Beathard are out.
Also, second-year running back Travis Etienne is out, so expect running backs Ryquell Armstead and Snoop Conner to get a good amount of action.
The Jags starting wide receivers listed are Marvin Jones Jr, Zay Jones, and Christian Kirk.
Jacksonville are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games played in August.
Las Vegas Raiders Betting Preview
The Raiders Quarterback Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens will get a good amount of playing time for this game to see who will become Derek Carr’s backup.
You’ll also see rookie Chase Garbers get thrown into the mix. Now for the running back position, Kenyan Drake, Zamir White, and Brandon Bolden will all compete to backup running back Josh Jacobs.
Last season Jacksonville was sub par against the rush and gave up an average of 125 yards per game, so these three running backs should be able to put up some numbers in this one.
Las Vegas are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games played in August.
