Los Angeles Lakers Betting Preview:
The Los Angeles Lakers finished last season 33-49 and fired head coach Frank Vogel in April. Then in June they hired Darvin Ham. Ham was actually a Lakers assistant coach from 2011 to 2013, then he ended up leaving for Milwaukee where he was part of their 2021 NBA Championship Title. He’ll have his hands full with this LA team.
Last season, they finished in the bottom10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. To their defense, they were riddled with the injury bug, but LeBron James and Anthony Davis aren’t going to be getting any younger, so you could see a similar scenario play out this season again.
On top of that, they have that huge question mark around the team on whether Russell Westbrook stays with them or gets traded. All month long the NBA media built up the drama for him to be traded, but I think they’ll keep him, so that they’ll have someone to blame if this season goes in the dumpster again.
The bright spot is that Los Angeles was able to strengthened their backcourt in the offseason with the additions of Patrick Beverley, rookies Max Christie and Scotty Pippen Jr.. However, Dennis Schroder will undergo thumb surgery and is expected to be sidelined 3 to 4 weeks. His minutes will be divvied up amongst Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley and Kendrick Nunn.
Golden State Warriors Betting Preview:
The Golden State Warriors come into this matchup as the reigning NBA Champions and ready to make another run it. That’s now their 4th championship in 8 years and they have great odds to do it again since they’re returning all five starters.
Golden State took a big hit with Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton no longer with the team, but they were able to add JaMychal Green and Donte DiVincenzo to try to fill those holes. Golden State was able to sign forward Andrew Wiggins to a four year extension worth up to $109 million this week.
Last season, the Warriors were ranked in the top three in both effective field goal percentage and opponent effective field goal percentage. Keep in mind when betting this game that Golden State was 39-19-2 against the spread at home last season.
