The freshman’s resurgence is critical for a UCLA squad that relies on his two-way impact. He’s a key piece of the Bruins’ defense, which allows just 64.6 points per game (ranked 23rd nationally).
Tyler Bilodeau (13.9 PPG) leads the team in scoring, while Kobe Johnson (1.8 SPG, 6.0 RPG) anchors the defense. Johnson’s matchup with Smith will be pivotal—if he can disrupt Purdue’s point guard, UCLA will have a major edge.
