Spain striker Alvaro Negredo joins Manchester City

City seems to be in heavy signing spree. This is the third summer signing, and this is their second booking from Sevilla. Earlier, City bought Jesus Navas and Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 27-year-old forward is going to run, probably, ahead of others on the field and will be on the line-up with the rest of the City players for the ongoing pre-season soccer tour of South Africa. Interestingly, he would get another new striker in the team, Stevan Jovetic, who is anticipated to complete his transfer from Fiorentina soon.

Negredo is known for playing attacking football and he falls short of the goals very slightly, provided he gets a golden chance. He climbed the ladders of success mainly at Almeria, where he netted 32 goals in his first two seasons with the club. Sevilla had broken the transfer record to sign Negredo in 2009. After recruitment, he progressed to score 70 goals in 139 appearances for Los Rojiblancos.

Negredo's transfer to City has been highlighted for a short time after Sevilla held a "farewell" press conference for the player. He has admitted that he is relishing an unforeseen, fresh and luminous challenge. "I think in football there are stages. For four years I have been very happy, but I think my time was over here," he told the club's website.

"I am happy to go to a big team."

Meanwhile, some stats now-Negredo has 14 international caps in his possession, in which he has scored a set of six goals. He is a former Real Madrid player.
