MLB Expert picks: Rockies@ Dodgers; 10:40 PM

The coming back of two stars in Colorado Rockies lineup failed to show any effect in the opener of this four-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is likely not going to get any easier to get on the board against Clayton Kershaw. The LA Dodgers have already won five straight. They have taken advantage of Kershaw's last seven home starts against the Rockies heading into tonight’s game. Colorado (44-49) had welcomed Troy Tulowitzki and Dexter Fowler back in Thursday's 6-1 loss. Tulowitzki was out since June 13 with a fractured rib while Fowler left on June 25 due to a bone bruise.

Baseball predictions insider reports that both of Tulowitzki and Fowler went 0 for 4, and the Rockies could just avoid a shutout on Carlos Gonzalez's homer in the ninth inning. Tulowitzki and Fowler have shown great performance against Kershaw who is at 8-5 with a 1.89 ERA. Tulowitzki currently has nine hits in his last 26 at_bats against the left-hander while Fowler has 15 for 34- the most hits of any player against Kershaw. However, it is still a challenge for the Rockies versus the pitcher with the lowest ERA and opponents’ batting average (.186) in MLB. Kershaw has seen victory in a season-best three straight outings, producing three runs over 25 innings. One of the games in the middle of that run was a four-hitter in an 8-0 victory on July 2 at Coors Field. Kershaw would seek to produce similar results Friday night since he is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA in his last seven home-starts versus the Rockies - all of which are victories for Los Angeles. He owns a record of baseball's seventh-lowest run support average at 3.25, but could prove different this time.

MLB predictions expert reports that the Dodgers (46-45) have to prefer their opportunities against Juan Nicasio who is 4-4 with an ERA of 5.31. Nicasio went 0-3 with an ERA of 6.43 in his last seven outings before June 27, when he was sent to the minors. Nicasio went 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two starts at Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Rockies think he will show better now. The right-hander is 1-2 with an ERA ofg 5.22 in total six career starts versus the Dodgers. Andre Ethier is now at 7 for 12 against him. Nicasio has not yet faced the Cuban rookie sensation Yasiel Puig. Ethier did not start Thursday, but he will be waiting to begin a all new hitting streak. He had replaced Puig in center field to end a nine-game run in which he had gone 16 for 38. Puig had, however, tweaked his left hip in his previous at-bat and was removed from the lineup. Mark Ellis stroke three hits and four RBIs as Los Angeles had gone above the .500 mark for the first time since April 15, 2012. Puig, 7 for 17 against Colorado, finished second to Atlanta's Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers have been victorious in 16 of total 19 while the Rockies have lost eight of 11.
