MLB Expert picks: Angels @Cubs; 08:35 PM

They may be wishing to do the same. While they host the Los Angeles Angels, the Cubs will really seek their 14th win in 20 interleague games in 2013. Chicago is going to play its final game of the year against the AL, and they are patiently waiting to close out with a dominant performance against those teams. The Cubs (40-48) hit a season-high five home runs in a 7-2 victory over the Angels on Tuesday. They are having a batting average of .286 in interleague play compared to .230 against the NL. They've already compiled a 2.84 ERA against AL opponents, while the figure stands at 4.08 against their own league.

Baseball picks expert reports that Alfonso Soriano had an impressive two homers on Tuesday to get the fifth in his last four games, and he accumulated an average of .367 in interleague play this year. He has 15 home runs, out of which seven have come against the AL. Soriano has batted an average of .400 with eight home runs and 17 RBIs in his last 11 contests. Catcher Dioner Navarro, on the other side, went 1 for 3 with a double on Tuesday. He is batting at an average of .405 with seven extra-base hits against AL foes, compared to the .238 with five extra-base hits versus the NL. The Cubs have gathered 23 runs and posted a 1.66 ERA while winning four in a row, one short of tying their season high. Jeff Samardzija who is at 5-8 with a 3.54 ERA will look to attack with much zeal as he comes out from a rough outing after three straight strong starts. Samardzija, who went 2-0 with a 2.82 ERA in the three games, allowed five runs, nine hits and a season-high five walks in a 6-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday. He, however, didn't get a decision.

MLB predictions expert reports that Samardzija is going to compete against former NL Central rival Albert Pujols, who is at 5 for 12 with two home runs against him. Pujols has just ended a 14-game homer drought with a two-run shot Tuesday and is now batting with an average of .350 in a five-game hitting streak. The Angels (43-46) have won seven consecutive games on the road entering Tuesday. They will send C.J. Wilson who is at 8-6 with an ERA of 3.49 to the mound. The left-hander has record of winning four straight starts before collecting a 6-2 loss to Boston on Friday. He went 6 2-3 innings and offered a season-biggest 10 hits and three runs, out of which only one was earned. The Cubs had scored total five runs in 5 2-3 innings of a 5-4 victory in Wilson's latest show-up against them on May 23, 2010. Soriano has, however, reached base in all three of his presence against Wilson, including one home run as well.
