MLB Expert picks: Dodgers@ Giants; 10:45 PM (2)

MLB expert picks insider previews the first game of a three-game series between Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park on Friday night.  The Los Angeles Dodgers had the idea of getting a weekend in San Francisco without seeing Matt Cain, but the weather played the spoilsport. He will now start Friday's series opener for the Giants. Cain has been in quite dominating mood against Dodgers, in recent years. But Cain is now against a lineup as potent as the one Los Angeles has fielded of late – the one that contains the mighty Carl Crawford. Cain who is at 5-4 with an ERA of 4.29 was slated to start on Thursday at Cincinnati, but the game was aborted due to rain, moving him back a day. He is 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA over his last ‘one less than a dozen’ starts against Los Angeles, permitting just 57 hits and 12 walks in 74 2-3 innings dating back to August 1, 2010. Nine outings of those were quite quality starts, and Cain dominated by holding the Dodgers to one run or fewer for six times.

Baseball picks expert reports that Cain is showing his finest start of the year, covering the slump of the San Francisco offense - that scored 26 runs while dropping 11 out of 13 - couldn't change it into a victory. Cain could not get a decision as he allowed one run and three hits - two of which were in the first inning - and walked one over eight frames in a 2-1 loss to Colorado last Saturday. The two teams split Cain's two interleague starts against the Dodgers earlier this season as he limited them to one run in a combined 13 1-3 innings. But Los Angeles' offense has evolved slowly into a fully different beast now. It was their 30th game when the Dodgers (40-44) saw Cain, the second time, through which they were averaging 3.5 runs. They've won 10 games of their last total12 while scoring 5.2 per game. In the 9-5 loss at Colorado on Thursday, the team's sixth 11-plus score play in nine contests was still enough encouraging - as is Crawford's possible return.

MLB predictions expert reports that before getting injured with a strained hamstring on June 1, Crawford was hitting .301 with 32 runs in 51 games. He has completed the rehab tenure with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. He is surely in the lineup of the Dodgers on Friday, according to their official website. The Dodgers, however, haven't confirmed whether they will activate the four-time All-Star from the disabled list. Manager Don Mattingly will now have to juggle an outfield that includes many stars, including Crawford, Yaisel Puig, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. Puig had gone1 for 5 on Thursday to expand his hitting streak to eight games and is still having an average of .430 with 19 RBIs since starting his MLB career on June 3. Although Kemp is only having an average of .254, he had homered for the second consecutive game and has six RBIs over his last four. Ethier, batting .258 this season, is hitting at an average of .303 over his last nine games and he has five hits in his last 13 at_bats.

MLB weekly picks expert informs that Cain will have to deal with Adrian Gonzalez, who has homered in three consecutive games, as well as Hanley Ramirez, who has an average of.483 with 16 RBIs during a 15-game hitting streak. Los Angeles starter Hyun-Jin Ryu who is at 6-3 with an ERA of 2.83 will definitely try to expand the Giants' offensive woes. The South Korean left-hander has faced San Francisco (39-45) three times, but he went 0-2 despite a 2.84 ERA. He has records of quality start in eight of his past nine outings, going 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA. No other batter has faced Cain more than Gonzalez and Ethier, who are 20 for 63 (.317) and 28 for 63 (.444) off him, respectively. Kemp is at one less than a dozen for 51 against Cain with 15 strikeouts.

MLB Picks: Dodgers vs Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers may be short of Yaisel Puig tonight but they might be just as fine provided Hanley Ramirez continues his recent form. Ramirez and the Dodgers are going to encounter one of baseball's best pitchers as they seek their first road sweep of the season against the Colorado Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin.
